V2: Toolkit—Individual Profiles / Additional Merge Fields

Using merge fields to personalize your communication.

Updated over a week ago

In this article, we are going to talk about part of the toolkit. The toolkit contains several series of code which we have written during our development. We wanted to make sure you have certain abilities.

WHAT ARE MERGE FIELDS?

Merge fields help you to personalize your emails. For example, they can begin with the person’s name, e.g. “Hi Dave” for a more human feel.

You can also use merge fields to segment lists. Just briefly for now, you could segment your lists by gender, birth date or marital status for example.

ALL PLANS HAVE ACCESS TO CCB FIRST NAME, CCB LAST NAME and CCB ID.

As a result, they have been automatically toggled on or marked as DO NOT EDIT (see image below).

Med plan: This plan gives you access to the following additional merge fields-->CCB Birth Date, CCB Salutation, CCB Suffix, CCB Gender, CCB Marital Status, and CCB Family Position. [Mobile phone is not included.]

Pro plan: Partners on our Pro plan have access to all the merge fields including our newest one - mobile phone.

TO GET TO THE TOOLKIT

From your dashboard, click on Settings (gear icon, gold arrow in image below). Choose Tools from the dropdown menu (pink box in image to the left).

The Tools page will open. The Individual Profiles / Additional Merge Fields tool is highlighted in the images below: pink box.

ENABLING INDIVIDUAL PROFILES / ADDITIONAL MERGE FIELDS

To use this tool, toggle on the button. It will turn pink/red.

Now, click on the yellow Edit Additional Merge Fields button.

This opens a screen that offers you a list of standard and additional merge fields.

Toggling on

(1) Starter plan merge fields are automatically turned on by default.

(2) For Med and Pro plans: Toggle on the merge fields you want (and have access to) by clicking on the greyed out buttons to turn them pink/red (see examples in image below).
